Graduation Requirements
Credit Requirements
A minimum of 23 Credits are required for graduation in senior year, which must be earned in the following areas:
- English – 4 Credits
- 9th Grade Lit/Comp or Honors 9th Grade Lit/Comp
- 10th Grade Lit/Comp or Honors 10th Grade Lit/Comp
- American Literature or AP Language/Amer.Lit
- Multicultural Literature or AP English Literature
- Math – 4 Credits
- GSE Algebra I or Honors Algebra
- Geometry or Honors Geometry
- Advanced Algebra or Enhanced Advanced Algebra/AP Pre-Calculus
- AP Pre-calculus or College Readiness Math or AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB
- (Foundations of Algebra and Math of Finance in special circumstances)
- Social Studies – 3.5 Credits
- American Government (.5 credit) or AP Government/Politics
- World History or AP World History
- United States History or AP United States History
- Economics or AP Macroeconomics
- Science – 4 Credits (sequence may vary)
- Physical Science or Honors Physical Science
- Biology or Honors Biology
- Earth Systems or Environmental Science or Chemistry or an AP Science
- 4th science option – AP Chem, AP Bio, Forensic Science, Honors Physics, Essentials of Healthcare, Human A&P, AP Environmental Science
- Health – .5 Credit
- Personal Fitness – .5 Credit
- Electives 6.5 Credits– **3 Credits must be in CTAE and/or Fine Arts and/or Foreign Language: Remaining Credits in any areas
College bound students must earn 2 Foreign Language credits in the same language for admission to most 4 year colleges/universities
Promotion/Retention Criteria:
9th grade: promotion from 8th grade
10th grade: one year in high school and a minimum of 5 credits earned
11th grade: two years in high school and a minimum of 11 credits earned
12th grade: three years in high school and a minimum of 16 credits** (For the purpose of participation in GHSA activities, 17 units of credit are required)
