At Rothschild Leadership Academy, our Partners in Education are much more than Partners…they are a part of the Rothschild family. Annually, we spend 500+ hours together learning, celebrating student successes, and, of course, eating!
In 2015, Rothschild Leadership Academy, The Exchange Club of Columbus, and The David Rothschild Company were awarded “Project of the Year for Success Factor 1: Improving Academic Performance” for the Readers are Leaders Project by the Columbus, GA Chamber of Commerce.
The entire Rothschild Family, including Maurice Rothschild, for whom Rothschild Leadership Academy is named, has deep ties in education, activism, and the arts in the Columbus community. The David Rothschild Company joined with our school in 1989. Since then, they have helped innumerable students celebrate their accomplishments with hoodies, t-shirts, lanyards, and many, many other amazing incentives for excellent performance.
Partners in Education
On April 19, 1990, The Exchange Club of Columbus entered into a collaborative partnership with Marshall Middle School, with the objective of assisting the school faculty and students through a variety of activities. When Marshall Middle School closed, The Exchange Club followed Principal Forte to Rothschild Leadership Academy to continue their good work.
As Partner’s in Education, The Exchange Club has shown their support of the school’s staff and students through activities such as 1) Serving teachers breakfast at the beginning and ending of each school year, 2) providing materials for school projects such as a parade float for the annual Christmas parade, 3) providing student who have outstanding grades with ‘incentive parties’ for each grading period during the year and 4) door prizes for PTA meetings throughout the year.
The answer to that led to a fantastic, collaborative, beautification project improve the appearance to the front flower beds. The knock-out roses, lantana, azaleas, and camellias that were planted that day are still growing and thriving outside the school today.
Temple Israel continues to work within RLA as a Partner in Education with the Read, Lead, Succeed program where volunteers work with students weekly to increase their literacy and fluency. Temple Israel also provides curriculum support to students and teachers with real-life experience with historical events such as the Holocaust and the Civil Rights movement in Georgia. A highlight of our time with Temple Israel is the annual Education Dinner held at the beginning of each school year that brings Temple Israel and RLA teachers and families together for a joyous celebration.
