In-State Colleges/Universities: If you are applying to colleges or universities within the state of Georgia, we recommend making an electronic request through www.gafutures.org. This streamlined process will ensure your transcripts are sent to your chosen in-state institution without delay. (OUT OF STATE COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES AND PICKUP ONLY): For current students who are planning to attend out-of-state colleges or universities, as well as those who require physical transcript pickup, you must fill out the form linked below. This form is only for students applying to colleges or universities located outside the state of Georgia. Do not use this form for in-state institutions.

2024 Gap Year Programs
Each year, high school seniors face a growing world that is full of possibilities and uncertainties. After spending over 10 years of their lives in a rigid academic institution, college-bound students may wonder if something more could be gained before they enter higher learning. Washington Youth Tour
Diverse Power will sponsor three local high school students on an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. The three students, along with other participants from around the state, will begin the tour on June 14, 2024 and will conclude the tour with their arrival back in Atlanta on June 21, 2024.
The tour is an excellent chance for the students to see the Capitol of our nation, as well as meet other high school students from around the country. It is an opportunity to learn about our government and the history of our nation – all this for free! Please review the enclosed entry rules and guidelines. Free Online Tutoring for Georgia High School Students!
This is a free opportunity for High School Students in Georgia only. Tutors are certified teachers from varying schools in Georgia. Tutors are prohibited from doing assignments, projects, or coursework for you. If you schedule a session, make sure you show up. Repeated failure to show up to your scheduled sessions can get you banned from this great opportunity. Appropriate behavior is expected. If students behave inappropriately with tutors, they are required to report it to GaTutors which is then reported back to our administration.
Teen Exhibition Council, Columbus Museum
The Columbus Museum invites your students to become members of the Teen Exhibition Council. This group of students from across the Chattahoochee Valley region will work closely with Museum staff to go behind the scenes to learn about career opportunities in the Museum sector. Students will put the skills they gain to practical use by creating labels and social media content, as well as planning a reception, educational program, and interpretive resources for an exhibition that will be on view when the Museum reopens to the public in 2024.

Are you ready to take the next big step towards your future? The college application process can seem daunting, but fear not! We’ve broken it down into seven manageable steps to help you successfully navigate this exciting journey.
Step 1: Research Your Options
The first and crucial step is to research colleges that are the right fit for you academically, financially, and in terms of your personality. You can start by visiting the college websites to gather information about programs, campus life, and admission requirements. GaFutures is also a valuable resource for comprehensive college information.
Step 2: Submit Your Application
Once you’ve identified your dream colleges, it’s time to apply. Most colleges offer online applications through their websites or via GaFutures. However, if an online application isn’t available, you can typically find a printable version on the college’s website. Pay close attention to application deadlines and aim to submit your applications two to four weeks in advance. Some colleges may require you to apply through Common App, so be sure to check.

Step 3: Send Your Test Scores
If required by your chosen colleges, arrange for your SAT/ACT scores to be sent electronically directly from the issuing agency. You can find more information about sending SAT scores at www.collegeboard.com and ACT scores at www.act.org. Keep in mind that colleges typically do not accept test scores from high schools.
Step 4: Secure Teacher Recommendations
For colleges that require teacher recommendations, make your requests at least four weeks before the application deadlines. To ensure everything arrives together, include teacher recommendations with your transcript request packet. Each recommendation should be sealed in an envelope with the teacher’s name signed on the back flap.
Step 5: Counselor Letters of Recommendation
If you need letters of recommendation from your counselor, complete a high school resume and provide it to your counselor at least two weeks before the college’s deadline.
Step 6: Request Your High School Transcript
For Georgia colleges, you can request your high school transcript electronically through GAfutures while logged into your account at https://www.gafutures.org/. For out-of-state colleges, visit the NHS Website, go to the Counseling tab, click on Transcript Requests, and follow the directions for “Current Students” and “Out of State Colleges and Universities.” Remember that you’ll need to do this twice, once for admission purposes and again after graduation with your final transcript.
Step 7: Immunization Records
Don’t forget to send a copy of your immunization records to the college you plan to attend. You can obtain a copy from your physician or visit the health department.

The most common place to search for scholarships is from the institution you will be attending. Be sure to check out their website for scholarships. You can also search within your community for scholarships–where your parent works, your church, organizations you belong to, hobby clubs, etc. Throughout the year, we will post scholarships for which you can apply on this page! Scholarship notifications, including the applications, are also posted for students on Canvas.
Sandra West ALS Foundation Scholarship
The Sandra West ALS Foundation Scholarship honors a remarkable spiritual woman, devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who is living her life with the challenging diagnosis of ALS. Sandy is a dedicated elementary school teacher, committed to health and fitness, ALS has sadly limited her physical abilities. This scholarship recognizes her unwavering commitment to education and aims to support college students who face the dual challenges of academic pursuit and familial responsibilities during an incredibly difficult time.
Any child of a parent with ALS whose family is facing financial hardship may apply for this scholarship if they’re a current or prospective college student.
Award Amount: Award amounts per winner are designated by the donor.

National Council of Negro Women Scholarship
National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is pleased to announce the launch of our annual scholarship program aimed at supporting deserving students in pursuing their higher education goals. As advocates for education and equal opportunities, we are committed to providing financial assistance to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievements, leadership skills, and community involvement. The NCNW Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students (Freshman and Sophomore).

AUSA Scholarship
The Chattahoochee Valley – Fort Moore Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (CV-FM AUSA) will be awarding at least $15,000 in college tuition scholarships for students enrolling in the Fall 2024 academic semester. The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) is a nonprofit educational and professional development association serving America’s Total Army, its Soldiers, Army Civilians, families, industry partners and supporters of a strong national defense. AUSA provides a voice for the Army, supports the Soldier, and honors those who have served in advancing the security of the nation. Locally, the CV-FM AUSA chapter has awarded annual scholarships for decades.

Gamma Psi Foundation Scholarship
Gamma Psi Boule in Columbus, Georgia, a component of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, has established the Gamma Psi Foundation to promote excellence in academic achievement among young people while also advocating for gender and ethnic diversity on college campuses and in the leadership roles of the country. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors whose presence on college campuses would further their goal of increasing ethnic diversity. Therefore, the majority of recipients are from ethnic minority groups.

Student Movement Against Cancer’s 4th annual Cancer Fighter Scholarship
Student Movement Against Cancer’s mission is to empower, encourage, and inspire the generation that ends cancer. The Cancer Fighter Scholarship seeks to honor up to ten (10) graduating high school seniors from around the nation who have been leaders in the fight against cancer. This includes students who have battled cancer themselves, helped loved ones/friends through cancer, or led the fight against cancer in their school and community.

Kappa Alpha Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho, Inc. Scholarship Application
Kappa Alpha Sigma Scholarship awards $500 to female students who exemplify excellence in academic performance who participates in extra-curricular activities seeking post-secondary education and who demonstrates a financial need. This scholarship was created in 2019 to promote and influence female scholars. 2024 Patricia Jackson Howard Scholarship
The scholarship was created to honor the memory of one of our past directors, Patricia Jackson Howard. Mrs. Howard promoted the mission of Historic Columbus for many years as a volunteer and employee of the organization. It was her wish that the scholarship be awarded based on merit and need. It will also be provided directly to the recipient for the use to purchase items associated with attending a university or college. The requirements for scholarship consideration are
A graduating senior from a public school in Muscogee County;
A completed application by the deadline;
A copy of the student’s transcript;
A copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR);
A completed essay on the topic provided
A letter of recommendation; and

Delta Life Development Foundation Scholarship
The Delta Life Development Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the Columbus (GA) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. awarded more than $300,000 in college scholarships to graduating seniors in the Chattahoochee Valley Area. Each year Kinetic Credit Union presents the Ronald J. Mahoney Kinetic Scholarship to a deserving high school senior. AOU Foundation Scholarship
The Alpha Onward and Upward Foundation, Inc. presents its 2024 scholarship application to the surrounding area. AOU will accept online submissions, emailed submissions, and postage submissions. International Virtual Learning Academy College Scholarship
IVLA understands the importance of a college education for students! We also understand the expense to families in providing a college education for their children. Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
The 2024 Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) scholarship application is now open! JRF Scholars receive grants of up to $35,000 over four years to supplement the financial aid they receive from their colleges or universities. In addition, Scholars receive extensive support services, including career guidance and internship placement, and attend JRF’s annual multi-day “Mentoring and Leadership Conference” in New York City and other regional events throughout the year.

BigSun Organization Scholarship
The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. Supporting Our Veterans, Mentoring Our Youth Scholarship
Award Amount: $5,000
Eligibility: 2024 graduating High School Seniors between the ages of 17 and 19 years old, from Fort Mitchell, AL; Phenix City, AL; Smith Station, AL; Columbus, GA; Fort Moore, GA, and surrounding communities.

In order to be eligible to receive HOPE scholarship, a student must have at least a 3.0 academic GPA (as calculated by GSFC) and meet specific course rigor requirements. In order to receive Zell Miller Scholarship, a student must have at least a 3.7 academic GPA (as calculated by GSFC), meet specific course rigor requirements and have a SAT score of 1200 (Math and Reading only) or a minimum ACT Composite score of 26 on a single national or state/district administration. Students can view their HOPE GPA on GaFutures.org. The GPA listed on the NHS student transcript is not the HOPE GPA. The student’s social security number must be entered in their student profile with Gafutures to view their HOPE GPA. Visit the “HOPE Scholarship” section of GaFutures to view more information about the requirements and/or the qualifications for the HOPE Scholarship.
**It is important to remember that counselors and teachers can give advice about the HOPE program, but the final decision about who is eligible for the award is determined by the Georgia Student Finance Commission. They receive the final transcript from our registrar and then review it to determine eligibility.
