Lakeshore Educational Resources, Math Manipulatives, & Science Kits

Lakeshore Learning. Teachers, browse our large collection of Lakeshore kits to support learning in engaging ways. Many of the kits can be used as centers. Some can be used to facilitate whole-group activities such as science and engineering experiments.

Hands-on Math. Supplement the math and science manipulatives in your classrooms by exploring additional materials available in the library. Not sure what you are looking for? We can research the standards you are addressing to recommend products and books.

​Picture Perfect STEM. Interested in incorporating literature with science? Mrs. Haskey is ready to partner with your class to introduce Picture Perfect STEM lessons. Kits include materials for your entire class to perform a variety of experiments, and each kit ties in to a picture book.

LEGO Education. Our school invested in a variety of LEGO kits, and students who participated in FIRST LEGO League, Jr. last year showed high levels of engagement when building, troubleshooting basic robotics, learning to code, and researching the challenge topic.

We have kits to teach simple machines, robotics, story telling, and more! Students gain the most when several teachers are available to engage in conversation, model teamwork, and encourage problem-solving. Did you know that building with LEGO can motivate students to complete research or to gather their thoughts before writing? I am happy to work with individual teachers or grade levels to develop lesson plans that incorporate LEGO.

Research Skills and Digital Content Creation. I am here to share the best resources for student research and to teach students (and teachers) how to identify reputable websites.

I am available to connect students and teachers with technology to present what they have learned. FlipGrid, Google Slides, ChatterPix, MakeBelief Comix, Microsoft Excel, and more. Let’s prepare our students to share their knowledge in 21st Century ways. In addition to the classroom carts of laptops, we have technology such as snowflake usb mics (perfect for podcasting), a Padcaster (videos for our YouTube channel such as book reviews), coding robots (applicable to a variety of subjects–not just science), and small digital video cameras to document learning.

Partner with your School Library Media Specialist! Contact me to work with your class before research projects, and I will also curate a list of links for your students to use on specific topics. Our school district invests in high-quality digital resources including e-books. These are terrific supplements to the library collection, especially for highly-specialized research topics.
