HOSA

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) was established in 1976, with the goal of increasing a student’s medical professional abilities, as well as their leadership capabilities. HOSA is a student organization that is geared specifically towards student achievement and advancing them in the medical field. Students can compete in events at a local, state, and national level. They also get the chance to travel all over the state of Georgia, as well as opportunities to travel to different parts of the country. There are many different categories of healthcare competitive events, but you get to choose the one that is best suited for YOU! Mrs. McNelly, our healthcare science teacher, is the athletic trainer for Northside High School football team. She’s been working in sports medicine (at Northside) for 6 years, and teaching at Northside for 4 years. She has a passion for human kinesiology and human anatomy, and that shows in her classes. If you are in the Healthcare Science pathway, you should be joining HOSA, to see how it can advance you and prepare you better for college.

The goal of HOSA is to expose students to the many avenues in the medical world, all the while teaching you how to better show leadership and professional skills, to help you get jobs above other applicants. Our meetings consist of guest speakers and healthcare information.

If you are interested in joining HOSA for the 2016-2017 school year, see Mrs. McNelly in room 506, or email her at mcnelly.bethani.b@muscogee.k12.ga.us
