Welcome to the Muscogee County School District!  We are so glad you are here.  We hope this page will contain some useful links for newcomers to the area.

Due to the Executive Order issued by Governor Kemp, school closures will remain effective through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Therefore, no registration or enrollment to Muscogee County schools will be accepted for the remainder of the 2019-2020 School Year.

Any new student to the District will be referred to our Department of Guidance and Counseling Service and directed to the available online resources through the remainder of this school year.  We have included our point of contact within this department to ensure they may proceed to send the information to the parents.

Please note the following guidance from our Division of Teaching and Learning:

  • If the student is transferring from another school, within the United States, then the final grade for each course should be listed on the transcript when it pertains to high school credits, even if they are using only part of the second semester.
  • If it is a student who is in middle or elementary school then the previous school should provide a promote or retain with the transcript.
  • Both of these scenarios is at the discretion of the previous school and their district policies. They would need to be the one to give credit and final grades.

The registration/enrollment process for the 2020-2021 School Year will continue when we resume regularly schedule District business and school operations.  All transcripts will be evaluated based on accumulated grades and credits until the closure began.  These will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, pending on the status of the student at the time of school closures.

What is a Magnet Program?

The Muscogee County School District offers magnet and charter programs within schools that offer a wide variety of concentrated studies:

Parents of students interested in attending a magnet school/program should contact the desired school for information about the program and application process.  Transportation is provided for students attending those schools/programs provided their residence is more than one and one-half miles from the school.

I’m living on Ft. Benning, can I go to any school in the Muscogee County School District?

Parents may complete an application for a Fort Benning Transfer (FBT) request, which is considered on a case-by-case basis.  Determinations about FBT are based on space available at the requested school.  Applications are available at the Muscogee County Public Education Center in the Central Registration Office, which is located at 2960 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia, 31906.  The application must be completed at the time of registration and submitted to the Central Registration Office staff.

Parents or legal guardians who apply for a FBT request are notified by phone or e-mail whether approved or denied.  FBT requests are automatically denied when there are no available seats at the requested school due to size restrictions.  There are no appeals for FBT decisions.

Transportation is not provided.  The parent or legal guardian is responsible for transportation of the student(s) to and from the school.
