Academic Decathlon
An academic elective activity that includes the study of major historical and cultural movements and their relationship to Economics, Literature, Music, Social Science, Art, and Science. Students use critical thinking skills to research, organize and use data collected from a variety of sources. This is a highly challenging academic course that includes academic competition

Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. (FBLA-PBL) is the largest career student organization in the world. Each year, FBLA-PBL helps over 250,000 members prepare for careers in business.

Fitness for All Bodies (FAB)
Fitness for All Bodies is an after-school fitness club sponsored by our certified personal trainer Mrs.Dumbuya.
FAB meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 pm -5 pm.
FAB is a club that is open to all faculty, staff and students of Kendrick High School and it promotes increased fitness, body positivity and camaraderie.
FAB is a free after school fitness club that conducts circuit/ bootcamp style training based on individual abilities. All fitness levels and abilities are welcome and all movements are scalable.
FAB is available to in-person and virtual students, faculty and staff as long as they have transportation to and from school.

High School High Tech
This is a comprehensive community-based transition and enrichment program providing select youth to link to academic and career-development experiences that will enable them to achieve success as a part of the 21st century workforce. It gives students the opportunity to explore real jobs, helps them think about career choices, and lets them explore the possibility of attending technical school or college.

Journalism is a part of the Academy of Communication Arts and Design and, as a class, explores journalistic writing through analysis of newspapers, yearbooks, literary magazines, and broadcast journalism publications. Journalism students will create the yearbook, newspaper, and any other school publications.

PBIS
Cherokee C.H.O.P is PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) is a general term that refers to the application of positive interventions and system changes to achieve socially important behavior change. It is based on a problem-solving model and aims to prevent inappropriate behavior through teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors.

What are the Responsibilities of the PBIS Team?
- Meet monthly to discuss PBIS program initiatives
- Monitors the implementation of the PBIS program
- Reviews discipline data and develops interventions to address specific school needs
- Organizes school-wide reward activities
- Provides classroom support to teachers
Cherokee C.H.O.P. – Committed, Honorable, On-Time, Prepared
- C.H.O.P. is the teaching/learning component of our PBIS program
- The C.H.O.P. framework addresses appropriate student behavior in different school environments.
- C.H.O.P. rubrics are posted throughout the school to remind students of appropriate behavior in the different locations.
- The PBIS team will determine specific school behavioral needs as related to the C.H.O.P. program and formulate an action plan to target those needs.
REWARD SYSTEM
- Rewards are based on student behavior with administration, faculty and staff distributing tickets when good behaviors are witnessed.
- The C.H.O.P. Store is opened monthly for students to redeem tickets for a variety of objects – from backpacks and hoodies to drinks and snacks.
- The reward cycle lasts for nine weeks (grading cycle) and at the end of the 9-weeks grading period students are offered choices for their C.H.O.P. celebration which could be a movie, skating or pizza/dance party.
