﻿{"id":43767,"date":"2023-10-09T14:35:52","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T14:35:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.muscogee.k12.ga.us\/spencer\/?page_id=43767"},"modified":"2023-10-13T17:23:12","modified_gmt":"2023-10-13T17:23:12","slug":"mcsd-school-social-work-department","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.muscogee.k12.ga.us\/spencer\/counselors-page-sample\/mcsd-school-social-work-department\/","title":{"rendered":"MCSD School Social Work Department"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"logo_name navbar-brand s123-w-l-s page-scroll logoStyle_20\" href=\"https:\/\/5f451135992a6.site123.me\/\"><span class=\"website-name\">MCSD School Social Work Department<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>School Social Workers serve within the school district in order to help students achieve academic success by serving as a link between schools and home. \u00a0 School Social Workers visit assigned school to build relationships with the students and school staff, and they make home visits and telephone communication regularly with parents to offer support and resources. \u00a0School Social Workers strive to alleviate barriers that get in the way of a child\u2019s opportunity for education and success. \u00a0School Social Workers collaborate with many agencies within Muscogee County to support our students, families, and community as a whole<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER\u2019S ROLE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We seek to Advocate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as a voice for students<\/li>\n<li>Guide families in pursuit of needs, goods and services<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a liaison between the student, family, school, and community<\/li>\n<li>Report concerns of child abuse and neglect<\/li>\n<li>Assist parents in understanding children\u2019s social\/emotional needs<\/li>\n<li>Represent school position and needs in crisis situations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We Seek to Communicate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop partnerships with community agencies and faith-based organizations<\/li>\n<li>Encourage and facilitate community involvement with schools<\/li>\n<li>Build positive relationships with school staff, students, and families<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We seek to Educate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Educate school staff and community on issues of cultural diversity<\/li>\n<li>Help students achieve maximum academic success<\/li>\n<li>Inform parents of the educational process<\/li>\n<li>Encourage and monitor school attendance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What We Do \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enforce the Georgia Compulsory School Attendance Law<\/li>\n<li>Provide an array of services to students and their families<\/li>\n<li>Provide consultation to teachers and other staff<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with the community agencies for the improvement of the welfare of our students<\/li>\n<li>Provide liaison services for McKinney Vento \u00a0and foster care students and families<\/li>\n<li>Work with appropriate local agencies &amp;
