We are excited about starting our 18th year of Bible Club at NCES. We will be meeting on the first WEDNESDAY of each month in the school cafeteria. We will not meet in Jan. or April due to school holidays. The meetings will be from 2:15-3:15. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up at 3:15. We believe being a member of the NCES Running Club will positively impact self-esteem and attitude. We will have fun learning how to warm up, run, and cool down. The goal is to promote team spirit, good sportsmanship, and a strong sense of personal pride and satisfaction.<\/p>\n Ms. Rojas and Ms. Boozer are the sponsors.\u00a0 Practices will be each Wednesday and Friday from 2:30-3:15 at the school.\u00a0 The race is October 14th at Kinnett Stadium.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”Pok\u00e9mon Club” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Joining the club will be based on a lottery. Filling out a form\u00a0 enters students into a lottery drawing for invitations, as Mrs.Jakovcic can accept up to 24 students.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n [\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=”Robotics Team” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Robotic club<\/strong> members will begin with basic robot builds and learn basic programming.\u00a0 We want to teach our students educational discipline through the use of our robots. Students will have the opportunity to expand their imagination, exercise their creativity, and develop new technical skills through creative thinking, hands-on science, fine motor skills, cutting-edge tools, teamwork, and public speaking skills.<\/p>\n The spirit and tradition of the NCES Robotics Club emphasize teamwork, character, planning, and problem-solving.\u00a0 Interested students should be self-starting, work well with others, and have a significant aptitude for math, science, and\/or technology.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n We will meet\u00a0 in the media center Tuesday and Thursdays. The team will only consist of 5 to 6 fourth and fifth grade students. Basketball tryouts are NEXT WEEK September 10th and -11th! Be sure to dress appropriately with gym clothes and tennis shoes. Please bring a water bottle! Open to grades 3-5 ONLY! Make sure to send in a change of transportation note or they will not be able to stay. The focus this year will be on building character and making good choices. The following is information about our Bible Club:
-Always held after school
– Student led
-Voluntary
-Adults are present as chaperones
Snacks: If possible, we would like for you to help provide snack for an assigned month. You would need to send in 1 box of Capri Sun type drinks (juice pouches) and 1 or 2 boxes of any flavor Little Debbie-style snack cakes. (Please remember we can NOT have anything with peanuts or peanut butter). If you are willing to send in a snack, please indicate if you would rather do so in the first semester, the second semester, or either one.

The NCES Math Team will have the opportunity to participate in various local and\/or regional math competitions. Participants: 8 4th and 5th Grade Students<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/a>The NCES Science Olympics Team is a group of students who have a passion and talent for science.\u00a0 The team will practice every Monday and Wednesday from 2:15-3:15 to prepare for the MCSD Science Olympics Competition.\u00a0 This competition is TBD. The state competition will be early May.\u00a0 The teacher sponsors for this team are Mrs. Cash and Ms. Isabel.<\/p>\n<\/a>Music Club is for 4th and 5th grade students who enjoy playing recorder, singing, and playing Orff instruments.\u00a0 Students will have the opportunity to play for several performances, to be determined in the future. Meetings are every Thursday, 2:30 \u2013 3:30. Pick is in the front of the school.\u00a0 Mrs. Jakovcic is the teacher sponsor.

Mrs. Jakovcic is the teacher sponsor. Pokemon Club will be from 2:30 – 3:00 on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. Pick up is at the front of the school.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
There will be only 2 tryout days (1 for boys and 1 for girls).

October 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th, and 17th
The competition date is Saturday, October 19th, 2024. at Northside High School. The Picture Bowl sponsors are Mrs. Dial and Paige Jones.<\/p>\n<\/a>
The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl competition will be for 4th and 5th grade students at the elementary level. Students will be reading 10 books that were selected from the Ga Book Award nominees. Students will compete by answering questions on all 10 books against other elementary teams in the county.\u00a0 Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Thomas are the teacher sponsors. The county wide competition will be January 27th at Spencer High School.<\/p>\n
