The East Columbus Magnet Academy for Gifted\/Talented is a rigorous program to extend the middle school curriculum. The goal of the magnet is to advance learning across the curriculum as well as to extend the curriculum beyond the program of the regular student. The SPIRIT of East Columbus stands for Students Progressing In Rigorous Individual Talents. Students can excel in a program that is specially designed to enhance individual talents in developing leaders of tomorrow. Students are provided with extensive use of technology to allow for research, video conferencing, and telecommunication to prepare them for the future.<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

What factors into my child getting into the magnet program?<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n
Your child will be evaluated on the following items and all of them will determine whether or not your child will be accepted into the magnet program for the following school year:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n
Entrance requirements for Magnet Program<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

  1. \n
    Complete an online Application between 8:00 a.m., October 30, 2025 and 5:00 p.m., January 9, 2026.<\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    Grade point average (B or above) from last school year and 1st semester of this school year (attach report cards)<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    No discipline referrals<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n
    GMAS Scores (Proficient or Distinguished levels) or other standardized assessment<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \n
    Teacher Recommendations – current language or math teacher and one other that knows the student well enough to speak on academic performance, behavior and attendance<\/span><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n
  6. \n
    Entrance Exam Dates:<\/span><\/h5>\n
      \n
    • December 13, 2025 (Saturday) <\/strong>from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM<\/li>\n
    • January 14, 2025 (Wednesday) <\/strong>from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM<\/li>\n
    • January 17, 2026 (Saturday) <\/strong>from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
