Welcome to the Science\/Technology\/Engineering\/Mathematics Magnet Program of George Washington Carver High School.\u00a0 The STEM Magnet Program is a program designed to equip our youth with the skills needed to be proficient and prepared for a post-secondary study and the 21st<\/sup>\u00a0century workforce.\u00a0The STEM Magnet Program is a rigorous, project-based program but also includes educational field trips that offer our students opportunities to learn more about STEM related careers.\u00a0 Each magnet student is to fulfill all magnet requirements as well as participate in extracurricular and community activities.<\/p>\n

In our STEM Magnet program,\u00a0our magnet students are given opportunities\u00a0to earn college credits while also receiving a high school credit through the choice of taking\u00a0Advanced Placement courses<\/em>\u00a0held within the school\u00a0or\u00a0Dual Enrollment courses<\/em>\u00a0with Columbus State University, Columbus Technical College, and Georgia Military College.<\/p>\n

Students, if you are in the magnet program for ALL 4 years, then as a senior you will need a minimum of 100 hours in order to meet your magnet requirement.\u00a0 You can earn more than 25 hours per year if you would like. All hours are due each year on the last Friday of April! Magnet Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Magnet Senior Seminar is the culminating experience for seniors in the A&T Magnet Program. This capstone course challenges students to demonstrate their academic knowledge, research skills, and real-world problem-solving through two major performance tasks. Students work individually and collaboratively to investigate issues related to their CTAE pathways (Agriculture, Healthcare, Logistics, or Marketing) while developing advanced research, writing, and presentation skills. Successful completion of the Senior Seminar is a requirement for earning the Magnet Diploma Seal and represents the mastery of both academic rigor and career-focused learning.<\/p>\n

Magnet Application Process<\/span><\/h1>\n

The magnet application process is closed for the current school year.\u00a0 The online application process for the 2026-2027 school year will open on October 30th at 5 P.M.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you are a current MCSD student<\/strong>, we will have access to any necessary test scores, grades, etc., in order to make an acceptance determination, but make sure to complete and submit the application.<\/p>\n

If you are homeschooled, attend a private school, or currently do not reside in Muscogee County<\/strong>, you need to submit a copy of your most recent 8th grade report card (end of 1st 9 weeks) to the magnet coordinator, Mrs. Markia Woods\u00a0 (Woods.Markia.S@muscogee.k12.ga.us<\/a><\/span><\/span>)<\/p>\n

**Due to the sequencing of our magnet classes, we are NOT able to accept rising seniors for the 2026\/2027 school year.<\/p>\n
