marketing, and entrepreneurship at Kendrick High School, Carver High School, and Aaron Cohn Middle School.\u00a0 I currently teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Business here at BRMS and am also the advisor for FBLA.\u00a0<\/p>\n I grew up here in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School.\u00a0 I earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, an MBA from Columbus State University, and a Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction from Georgia Southern University.<\/p>\n I have been married to my husband, a firefighter, for almost 15 years and we have 2 sons.\u00a0 Jack is a freshman at Northside and Sam is in 1st grade at Eagle Ridge.\u00a0 Both play baseball, so I am fully immersed in my baseball mom era!\u00a0 In my limited spare time, I enjoy traveling, cheering on the Braves Since then, I\u2019ve expanded my role to include teaching both girls’ and boys’ health and PE. Alongside my teaching responsibilities, I\u2019ve had the privilege of coaching a variety of sports, including girls’ and boys’ track, flag football, and volleyball.<\/p>\n Volleyball has been a particular passion of mine, and I\u2019m proud to share that I\u2019ve led teams to the playoffs for the last four years, with two consecutive years reaching the semi-finals. These accomplishments have been some of my most fulfilling as a coach, and I continue to strive to help my athletes achieve their best both on and off the court.<\/p>\n As a member of the Blackmon Road Middle School team, my goal is to leverage my skills, experiences, and passion to contribute to the continued success of our school. Mr. Owen will be teaching 6th grade Career Awareness, 7th grade Career Discovery, and 8th grade Career Management. The 2025-26 school year will present a new challenge on his journey as an educator as he begins his 40th<\/sup>\u00a0year in education.<\/p>\n \u00a0Mr. Owen has spent the last 39 years as a Teacher, Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, Headmaster and Assistant Superintendent in Alabama and he retired in May. He was a teacher and coach for 22 years and worked in educational leadership as a school and district level administrator for the other 17 years. Mr. Owen earned his Bachelor\u2019s Degree from The University of Alabama in 1986 with teaching certifications in health, history and physical education. He earned his Master\u2019s Degree in educational leadership from Troy University in 1993 along with an additional master’s level certification in history.<\/p>\n \u00a0Mr. Owen was raised in Wrentham, Massachusetts where he graduated from King Philip Regional High School in 1980. He attended Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire as a postgraduate student before enrolling at The University of Alabama.<\/p>\n \u00a0Mr. Owen has been married to his wife, Theresa, for 34 years. They have one son, Davis. Theresa is a high school counselor. Davis graduated from LaGrange College with a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Business with a special emphasis in Sports Management and has worked the past few years in education. Davis is also a YouTube influencer, better known as Davey Gravy with his bass fishing followers. His YouTube travels have taken him as far as Africa, Sweden, and Hawaii.<\/p>\n \u00a0The Owen family loves to travel, both overseas and exploring America. They have also hosted international students over the years from China, Spain, and Hong Kong and remain in contact with their international sons that have become part of their family.<\/p>\n \u00a0Mr. Owen is a huge fan of the Crimson Tide, Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Celtics. He enjoys going to church, daily exercise workouts, family time, and exploring new places.
