Tome Student Literacy Society (Tome Society) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization based in North Georgia.\u00a0 The middle school level (Jr. Tome Society) provides the following student competitions\u037e an annual \u201cIt List\u201d of entertaining and encouraging children’s and young adult literature\u037e book club activities\u037e curriculum materials for educators\u037e and an annual conference for both students and educators. All activities promote self-esteem, leadership skills, character ethics, curriculum standards, and nurture critical thinking, creativity, and imagination in the digital age.\u00a0 All of these competitions support the standards being taught in our classes and serve to strengthen the skills our students need in order to be successful in the future. All activities promote self-esteem, leadership skills, character ethics, and nurture critical thinking, creativity, and imagination in the digital age.<\/span>\u00a0You can go online to tomesociety.org<\/a> for more information on each individual competition.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Students who want to join the Jr. Tome Society are expected to commit to reading at least 5<\/u> of the 10 \u201cIt List\u201d books during the school year.\u00a0 Students are also required to enter a minimum of 2 competitions of their choice with 1 being a fall submission and 1 being a spring submission.\u00a0 You are welcome to do more, but this is the required minimum.<\/strong><\/p>\n Jr. Tome Society Reading Bowl Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n The Jr. Tome Society Reading Bowl Team is comprised of 15 members.\u00a0 These 15 students are required to read all 10<\/u> of the \u201cIt List\u201d books and develop questions on the books that will be used for our practice sessions.
