Library Mission Statement
The South Columbus Media Center exists to provide an accessible, enjoyable, welcoming place for students, teachers, and staff to find books and resources that promote a love of reading and lifelong learning. Our 2014-2015 reading incentive theme is “Royal Readers”. I want a lot of students to be recognized for their hard work and I want as many “royal readers” as possible! Prizes will be given for our top readers and a cupcake party will be held in May to honor the students who have met all 4 of their reading goals for the school year. Keep on Reading!!!!!
Students in grades 1st through 5th may check out 2 books at a time. Each class comes to the library on a weekly basis where lessons that are related to the curriculum are taught. Students are also given the opportunity to check out new books and take AR quizzes. Students may also come to the library on an individual basis to check out books.
Popsicle’s on the Playground
Charmette Perry is the Children’s Librarian from the South Columbus Public Library. She has started a program at South Columbus Elementary School this year called “Popsicle’s on the Playground”. This is an incentive program that was started for elementary students in MCSD who have completed the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries summer reading challenge. Congratulations to the students below who have completed the program!
