There are NO refunds for class dues if a senior does NOT qualify to graduate.
Because we do not yet know when Georgia Milestone results from end-of-year testing will come in, some students who participate in graduation practice may later not be cleared for the actual graduation ceremony. The GMS will count 20% of the grade in all GMS subjects.
State Clearance is not posted yet. We are waiting on the times and dates for grades to be posted by MCSD. When we know–we will get that information out to you ASAP.
Kendrick Clearance – This one is first and is all about school debts like from band, the library, textbooks, clubs and activities and senior dues.
State Clearance – This one is last and is all about grades, course requirements, state exam requirements, credits earned and number of absences.
Failure to complete either one of the above, and payment of senior dues, could prevent you from either graduating or walking across the stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I request more tickets for Graduation?
We will give you a form to fill out at the Senior Parents Meeting and you can submit your request then. If you find out later that you need tickets you may request those through the front office with Ms. Burton. All extra ticket requests need to be in writing and only parent requests are honored. Students may not ask for tickets.
How do I request more tickets for Baccalaureate?
The number of tickets each graduate receives is based on the number of graduating seniors we have for that year. Normally, we give out at least 3 tickets per graduate. We will have these request forms available during the Senior Parent Meeting in April. Please only ask for an additional two tickets as space is very limited in our auditorium. If you find out later that you need extra tickets, please submit your request in writing to the front office, Ms. Burton.
Do infants, toddlers and small children need tickets for graduation?
Yes. Every person, even the little tiny ones, need a ticket to graduation. It has to do with safety and fire codes so make sure you count the babies if you request extra tickets.
Can parents attend the picnic?
The picnic is designed to allow Seniors to relax, have fun and fellowship before their graduation. Parents are welcome to enjoy the luncheon, but the picnic is for Seniors only.
Why are these dues so much?
The dues seem like a lot, but we’ve broken it down for you as much as we can. Many other schools don’t do that, they just give the parent a flat fee and expect it to be paid. At Kendrick, we want to be as open with you as we can. This is why I give you a table with all the costs involved. As you can see, most of the money is for the yearbook and the students really enjoy these and it becomes like a memory book for them. We don’t make any money from the dues, and although everything is outlined, there are other expenses involved that you can’t see or touch. For example – we have to pay for gas for the busses and we have to pay for the bus drivers to drive those busses. We have to pay for any and all decorations and food for these activities and the rental fees for the places where we have these activities. The dues payment does seem like a lot of money, but it all spent on the seniors and they do only graduate from high school once. 🙂
Why do senior parents have to have so many meetings?
I have to agree – there are a lot of meetings for senior parents. 1) We have one in the fall to let you know about dues and the Herff Jones products (cap & gown) that needs to be purchased. 2 and 3) MCSD requires our senior guidance counselor to meet with the parents of seniors TWICE during their senior year. One is usually in the fall and one is in the spring; these meetings are designed to keep parents informed about their son/daughter’s progress towards graduation. 4) We have a meeting in the spring (usually April) that is required by MCSD about graduation do’s and don’ts. I usually schedule two meetings, one on a Thursday evening and one on a Saturday morning. It is at this meeting where you also pick up your child’s cap and gown.
When do I get my Senior Portraits made?
Rising seniors should have their portraits made during the summer between their Junior and Senior year. These portraits will go in the yearbook. You must make an appointment with Prestige Studios and have the portraits done before the end of September. Only pictures made at Prestige and those made by the deadline will be in the yearbook. They have all different size packages available.
Cap and Gown portraits are usually made in the spring at the school and can be ordered at that time.
